Caleb Schoon - High School Athlete Honorees - 2018

Caleb Schoon earned 11 varsity letters through his high school career – three in soccer and four each in swimming and track. In soccer, he was an All-District and All-Region selection, his junior and senior years, and he was a second team All-State selection his senior year. He was on Ludington‘s 2017 MHSAA Division III state runner-up team. Schoon qualified for the MHSAA Division Three swimming and diving state meet his junior and senior years. He swam a leg of a state–qualifying, 200–yard freestyle relay in his junior year. In his senior year, he qualified again in that event, as well as the Medley Relay in the 100-yard backstroke. The Medley Relay was 12th in the state. Both of those years, Ludington won the Coastal Conference title. He competed in pole vault in track and was a state qualifier in the event this spring. He was a finalist for the MHSAA Scholar Athlete Award, and he was nominated for the Michigan High School Coaches Association Rich Tompkins Multi-Sport Award by Ludington High School. Schoon was active in the community away from the sports arenas, and he excelled in the classroom. He was named Ludington All Around Senior, was in the National Honor Society, won the schools Gold Award all four years and was an Alpha Graduate. He owned a 4.261 grade point average.
