Andrew Quinn - High School Athlete Honorees - 2022

Andrew Quinn is a 2022 graduate of Mason County Central and participated in wrestling and track & field while in high school, becoming a state champion in both sports. Andrew won the 2021-22 MHSAA Wrestling State Championship in the 285-pound class, about 50 pounds above his weight. He was third in 2020-21 at 215-pound class and sixth in 2019-20 at 189. Andrew was also team captain his junior and senior years. In track & field, Quinn became MHSAA State Champion by throwing the shot put 61' 1.5" in 2022 and was also All-State in shot put in 2020-21 by placing third at the MHSAA State Meet. He was the shot put and discus champion at the West Michigan Invitational Meet in 2021-22 with a shot put of 59' 3" and a discus throw of 164' 8". He took second place in both events a year earlier. Andrew set the Mason County Central school record in discus with a throw of 175' 2.75" in 2022 and set the Mason County and school record in shot put with a throw of 61' 1.4", a record that had stood since 1969. Andrew completed his high school career with a 3.442 grade point average and was dual enrolled at West Shore Community College, earning Dean's List honors and membership in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Quinn volunteers with the Youth Wrestling Program and the West Michigan Old Engine Club.
