Lucy Shoup - Life Lesson Awards Honorees - 2025

Lucy Shoup – Teamwork & Perseverance

Lucy, daughter of Paul and Susan Shoup, was chosen as the Life Lesson Award recipient from Mason County Eastern for her teamwork and perseverance. Lucy ran cross country and played basketball in high school for four years, was a captain in those sports for two years, competed in track & field for two years as well as softball her senior year, earning 11 varsity letters. Lucy earned multiple West Michigan D League all-conference honors, including first and second team and earned academic all-state all four years of high school in basketball and cross-country. Lucy earned all-state in cross country and in the 800 meters in track. Lucy prioritizes maintaining a positive attitude while supporting those around her and leading by example. In addition to athletics, Lucy was very active as member of the Mason County Youth Advisory Council for four-years, Varsity Club, band, Honorary School Board member for Student Council, Vice-President of the National Honor Society and a 12-year 4-H member, competing at the Western Michigan Fair. In her sophomore year, Lucy lived in France for a semester as part of a study-abroad program. She immersed herself into a new language and culture while attending a French school and living with her host family. Lucy earned a grade point average of 3.9 and dual-enrolled at West Shore Community College in her junior and senior years. She plans to attend Michigan State University, pursuing a career in dermatology. Lucy chose Lakeshore Children’s Advocacy Center of the Mason County Fund of Ludington as the charity to receive a donation given in her honor by the Mason County Sports Hall of Fame.
