Kyle Gurzynski - High School Athlete Honorees - 2006

Ludington High School's success in baseball, basketball and soccer over the last four years was due, in no small part, to the contributions of Kyle Gurzynski. He earned three varsity letters in each sport. In baseball, Ludington won three consecutive conference titles and Gurzynski, the starting shortstop and a relief pitcher, was named to the All-Western Waterways team all three years. This spring, the Orioles won 24 games and a district title and Gurzynski was named to the all-district team. In basketball, Ludington won three straight conference and district championships and two regional titles. This past season, Gurzynski was the starting point guard on a team that went 22-4, equaling the school record for victories in a season, earning an all-conference honorable mention. Gurzynski was also a first-team all-conference selection in each of his three years on Ludington's varsity soccer team. He was also an all-area selection, a two-time all-district honoree, an all-regional selection and received an all-state honorable mention. This year, Gurzynski was the co-recipient of Ludington High School's All-Around Male Athlete Award. He plans to attend Calvin College where he will play baseball. "Kyle Gurzynski has been a special athlete for Ludington High School," says LHS athletic director Rick Catt. "His combination of natural abilities, boundless desire, and a 'never say never' attitude has made him fun to watch for spectators."
