Emma McKinley - High School Athlete Honorees - 2024
Emma earned 12 varsity letters at Ludington where she was a standout in golf, qualifying for State all four years, earning All-State First Team honors her junior and senior years, and qualifying for State in tennis her sophomore season.
Emma earned All-Conference accolades and won the Conference in golf all four years. She was also a Regional Champion twice and a four-time team captain. Rookie of the Year in golf her freshman year, Emma was honored as the Most Valuable Player for the three nest years. She was the Catchmark Player of the Year two seasons, Local Sports Journal Player of the Month as a senior, and WMOM Athlete of the Week as a freshman. In 2024, the Oriole golf team won a regional championship for the first time since 1989.
In tennis, Emma earned First Team All-Conference in No. 1 Doubles as a freshman and in No. 1 Singles as a sophomore and was the Conference Champion in both those years. Her freshman year, Emma was selected All State Honorable Mention in No. 1 Doubles. In soccer, Emma was Team Captain her senior year and earned Second Team All-Conference her junior year. A team captain her senior year in basketball, Emma earned Second Team All-Conference her junior and senior years, the T Wahr Award as a senior, Most Improved as a sophomore, and the Unselfish Award twice. Her sophomore year, the team made a run to the MHSAA State Semi Finals.
Emma carried a 4.077 GPA, and was an Alpha Grad and on the Honor Roll all four years. Emma assisted with girls camps in several sports, officiates youth games in the winter, teaches children in the Lincoln Hills Golf and Tennis Camp, and is a Certified Phlebotomist.
Emma plans to attend Detroit Mercy, playing Division I golf on a college athletic scholarship.
