Dr. William M. Anderson is one of the foremost historians on the Detroit Tigers, writing The Detroit Tigers: A Pictorial Celebration of the Greatest Players and Moments in Tiger History, The Glory Years of the Detroit Tigers, 1920-1950, and The View From the Dugout: The Journals of Red Rolfe. He co-authored Rick Ferrell: Knuckleball Catcher with the former Tigers coach and vice president, and four articles on the club for Michigan History Magazine. He has been invited several times by the club for speeches including to re-dedicate a commemorative plaque to Ty Cobb at Comerica Park. Two of his books received recognition either within the state or nationally.
