Clayton Shoup - Life Lesson Awards Honorees - 2024
2024 Life Lesson Award Recipient – Mason County Eastern
Clayton Shoup, son of Robert and Amanda Shoup, is one of the Life Lesson Award honorees from Mason County Eastern High School and has selected St. Mary’s Caritas Food Pantry for a donation given in his honor.
Clay played basketball and baseball and ran cross country and track at MCE. He maintained a 4.0 gpa while earning 15 varsity letters.
Clay dual enrolled at West Shore Community College during high school, earning 34 college credits and was on the Dean’s List.
Clay was a captain on each of the four sports discipline teams he competed on, earning multiple All-Conference awards in the West Michigan D League. Clay is a two-time All-State and All-Academic basketball player and was recognized as Academic All-State in cross country.
Clay set new school basketball marks in single game scoring and climbed the all-time career scoring list for Mason County, claiming the third most career basketball points.
Clay is a member at St. Mary’s Church where he is an altar server and food pantry volunteer and has been a lifelong 4H member.
Clay is a four-year academic award winner, a MHSAA scholarship-athlete finalist Student Council Mayor, National Honor Society President and Varsity Club Vice President. He is known for his high character and leadership abilities.
The best way Clay displays leadership is by being dedicated and disciplined in his sports, leading by example and bringing positive support to his teammates.
Clay plans to attend Albion College where he will be a member of the men’s basketball team while studying history and secondary education. His dream is to become a high school teacher or college professor and coach.
