Brandon Melchert - High School Athlete Honorees - 2011
Brandon Melchert lettered three times in both baseball and football and twice in basketball.
In football, he was the team’s co-captain and most valuable defensive player.
As a junior, he was first team All-West Michigan Conference, all-district and all-area in baseball, earning the team’s Most Valuable Player Award. He also earned All-WMC Scholar Athlete honors in each of his varsity seasons.
As a junior baseball player, he compiled a 13-3 record as a pitcher with a 1.99 earned run average with 162 strikeouts in 98 innings. He also hit .459 with two home runs, 14 doubles, and 38 runs batted in.
Owning a 3.558 grade point average, Brandon is a member of the National Honor Society, a S.A.D.D. member and earned H.G. Bacon awards as a sophomore, junior and senior.
The son of Greg and Lori Melchert, he received the U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award and was MCC’s 2011 Senior Male Sportsmanship Award winner.
