Amanda Stowe - MCSHOF Inductee - 2017

Amanda Stowe had one of the greatest basketball careers for anyone from Mason County. The 1997 Ludington High School graduate was the runner up for Miss Basketball her senior year and chosen for All State three times by the Associated Press. She was also chosen for All State her junior and senior years from the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News. She finished her career with 2,160 points and 1,210 rebounds, easily the best in school history. She was the leading scorer and rebounder in each of the games she played for Ludington - in all four seasons. Stowe went on to the University of Michigan for her freshman season. As a member of the Wolverines, she was third in the Big Ten's Freshman of the Year voting after she played in 19 games in 1997-98. She played six games with Michigan the following season, and decided to transfer. She went on to Wisconsin-Green Bay. With the Phoenix, she was the Horizon League Player of the Year in 2001 in leading the team to the NCAA Tournament. She averaged 15.2 points per game over her 60-game career, third best in Green Bay history and led the team in scoring her junior and senior years, 2000-01 and 2001-02. Stowe led Green Bay in rebounds in 2000-01. She has the best field goal percentage in a game (11 of 11 vs. Cincinnati). She was academic All-Horizon League and the team's MVP in 2002. She was a two-time Horizon League first-team player and was the league's Newcomer of the Year in 2001. She went on play professionally in Europe and the Caribbean from 2002 through 2014 on teams including the Wien Flying Foxes (in Austria), Residence Walferdange (Luxembourg), Letzebuerg Ros Casares (Luxembourg) and the Musel Pikes (Luxembourg). Stowe began her career with Esgueira (Portugal) in 2002-03, averaging 22.9 points per game and 14.6 rebounds per game, and she was named an all-star game participant while winning the league's 3-point shooting title at the game. She went from there to play in Vienna, Austria, with Flying Foxes Post SV Wein, including a league scoring record of 67 points in a game in 2003-04. She again was a three-point shooting champion at the league's all-star game. The following season she was playing in Priolo, Italy. It was in Luxembourg where Stowe had perhaps her greatest professional seasons. She played from 2005 through 2014 in that country for Walferdange, Musel Pikes and AB Contern. She won a cup championship, twice named cup championship MVP, once a season MVP and Player of the Year, named on an all-import first team six times and was a 3-point shooting champion. Even in those years, she played outside of the winter season in summer 2008 in Puerto Rico and in fall 2008 in Stockholm, Sweden.
