Kyle Cameron - High School Athlete Honorees - 2007
Kyle Cameron is the 2007 Mason County Central Senior Athlete Award winner and the school’s Senior Academic Athlete Award winner owns a 3.86 grade point average. In basketball, he was all-conference and all-area in 2006 and 2007 and received all-state mention in 2007. He was also all-conference in baseball in 2006 and 2007, a seven-time Academic All-West Michigan Conference Scholar-Athlete Award winner, a member of the National Honor Society and an H. G. Bacon Academic Excellence Award winner. The starting quarterback and co-captain in football, Cameron helped Mason County Central post a 7-4 record and land a berth in the state playoffs. The Spartans advanced to the football district finals where they lost to eventual state champion Menominee. Kyle’s basketball coach, Tim Genson, said, “Kyle is not only a quality athlete but a quality person and teammate. He was team oriented and always had the best interest of the team in mind above and beyond himself. When asked to play out of position because it was best for his team he went to work and took care of business with never a thought of a complaint.”
